History Transplantation

History Transplantation is an ongoing ceramic sculpture project exploring identity, historical memory, displacement, and belonging. Drawing from ancient Iranian visual motifs and reinterpreting them through contemporary figurative forms marked by wounds and traces of violence, the work connects Iran’s cultural heritage with the lived experiences of its people today. The symbolic motifs carried by the figures represent a refusal to let go of their history and identity, even in the face of pain and displacement. Wherever they go, they carry a connection to their homeland with them.

Through distorted bodies, symbolic forms, and the physical transformation of clay going through repeated firings, the sculptures reflect on loss, resilience, resistance, and the persistence of identity across time and place.
